  28.     Yup.  When was the last time you cleaned the tape heads?  They should
  29.  be cleaned every 8 hours of use.  Also, what kind of tapes are you
  30.  using?  I talked to a tech support person at Archive/Viper and he told 
  31.  me to use ONLY 3M tapes.  I believe him!!  The only tapes that have held
  32.  up are the 3Ms I have.  The Sony and Verbatums died.  So, clean your
  33.  heads and use 3M tapes.  Oh.  One other thing.  The tech support guy 
  34.  also said that you should only use one size of tape in the machine.  So
  35.  if you start with 6150s you should stick with them and like wise with
  36.  the 6250s.  You might be able to read the other size tapes but you will
  37.  have trouble writing them. The reason is that the different tape sizes
  38.  "wear" different patterns on the surface of the head.  When the drive
  39.  comes to write to the tape it has a hard time verifying the data
  40.  because the tape isn't lined up correctly.
