  14.     I have a dead ST296N.  When I power up the drive the LED flashes 8
  15.  times.  Does anyone know what 8 flashes mean?  The drive was working but
  16.  I was getting R/W errors.  While I was copying the files to another HD
  17.  DirectoryOpus came back and said "File not of required type".  What?  
  18.  You're copying a file, what do you care!  Well I thought that there was
  19.  a lock one the files so I rebooted the machine.  Now all the files were
  20.  gone but the drive reported the correct "space remaining".  I rebooted 
  21.  again and the drive didn't come up and the LED started its flashing.  So
  22.  does anyone know what the 8 flashes mean?
