- Trip-A-Tron
-
- As there are regulary questions for psychodelic animations, I decided to
- post an overview over Trip-A-Tron, a kind of demo-maker for bouncing
- objects and color effects.
-
- It is made by Llamasoft (who also made Llamatron and other games). You can
- buy it for Atari ST and Amiga computers. In the following, I cite some of
- Llamasoft's material on Trip-A-Tron.
-
- 1) From the Grid Runner Cover (a game by Llamasoft)
-
- Trip-A-Tron, Jeff Minter's unique interactive graphics program, is now avail-
- able in Amiga format.
- Trip-A-Tron allows users to produce at will, spectacular dynamic patterns and
- iridescent colourflows. More, it's natural, enhancing accompaniment to any
- type of music - a great and creative tool.
-
- "No mere sound-to-light program ... allows the user to play with light as a
- musician would play with sound."
-
- Trip-A-Tron includes its own programming language, KML, but comes ready to use
- with graphics effects pre-programmed to individual keys. Also included is a
- handsome 3-ring binder with a 135-page manual.
-
- Trip-A-Tron costs 29.95 Pounds (in Britain).
-
- 2) A flyer added to the letter i received after sending them the Llamatron
- shareware (it ist printed in blue on pink paper)

- Amiga
- Trip-A-Tron
-
- Llamasofts unique graphics program attracted wide attention in the Computer
- press and amongst Atari ST owners, in England and elsewhere, as its potential
- as a creative graphics performance tool was realised. It is now available for
- Amiga owners.
-
- Trip-A-Tron comes on disk in an attractive 3-ring-binder, which includes a 140
- page manual detailing the program's considerable potential. It can be used on
- any version of the Amiga, for home entertainment or for professional use eg.
- as a visual backing for a group or at a disco.
-
- Trip-A-Tron comes 'ready to use', with presets and demos allocated to the
- Amiga's keys or in easily loaded files. The system includes many beautiful
- desinged pop-up menues and, as one reviewer remarked, "... it doesn't help
- that it is pervaded by Jeff Minter's sense of humor ..." Doesn't help?!
-
- It has its own 120-command programming language, KML, and can accept and
- manipulate images from IFF files. On Amiga's, 1 Meg or more, these images
- can be animated.
-
- Trip-A-Tron is not a sound-to-light program - it gives its users an inter-
- active link between the machine and their imaginations - a wonderful enhance-
- ment to the enjoyment of music of all kinds.
-
- Trip-A-Tron, 29.95 Pounds (crossed with ball pen, '10 Pounds' written next to
- it).
-
- On the bottom of the page:
-
- The 'MERAK VIDEO', combining Jeff Minter's Trip-A-Tron graphics with Adrian
- Wagners electronic music, is now available direct from Llamasoft, 12.95 pounds.

-
-
- So, have fun with it and don't fly too high.
