- Thanks, I think I'm pretty familiar with dithering already. What I'm after
- is more specific information about what IM does so that I can use it
- intelligently. Such as:
-
- Do I need to scale the image up to device resolution manually before
- printing, or does IM do that for me? (From your message, it sounds like
- a manual step is needed.) Is there any point in going beyond device
- resolution?
-
- Are there printer preferences that you'd suggest? Especially halftoning
- settings either recommended or perhaps ones to avoid. I want to avoid
- beating between printer driver halftoning and IM halftoning.
-
- How much additional memory, if any, is required by IM for printer output,
- on top of the 24-bit image buffer? Is strip printing supported?
-
- Also, since Perry K. seems to be following this thread, the person I'm trying
- to help use the Tek 4693D printer already has ADPro, and would probably prefer
- to use that, rather than buy something else. It appears from our tests
- that ADPro is printing in strips, but something in either the driver or printer
- isn't supporting strip printing, resulting in one strip per page and a lot of
- wasted one-use ribbon (or "transfer roll" as Tek calls it). Any suggestions?
- Is the Tek 4693D driver supposed to work with strip printing?
