- You wanna be legal? Okay, then you phone up Virtual Reality Labs Inc.
- at 805-545-8515 and you ask them if that coverdisk PAL-only version of
- Vista which was on that Amiga Format magazine is okay to own in the USA
- or if it was licensed for UK/Europe distribution only. Then you'll know.
-
- A few months back a similar situation occured with a certain paint
- program. It was produced as a "coverdisk" version for a UK magazine.
- The magazine provided very little documentation in that issue, but
- enouraged readers to send in some amount of money to receive a full
- printed manual, which the maker of the paint program had done up
- especially to be sold this way thru the magazine to its UK/Euro
- customers. His contract with the magazine specifically prohibited
- distribution of this issue with this disk in the USA where his
- paint program is sold commercially, by dealers, in a full package with
- the manual included.
-
- Well guess what hapened... the magazine was imported and ended up on
- USA dealers' shelves anyway. Upon hearing this my friend, the
- author and self-publisher of the paint program, well he basically
- hit the ceiling. He's probably still trying to scrape himself off.
-
- At any rate, my hunch is that that version of Vista you're trying
- to get from that coverdisk issue is PAL only, and that VRLI will tell
- you it wasn't meant for USA distribution.
