  12. Hi - I'm looking to buy a good printer for my amiga 3000.
  13. My primary uses are graphics and maybe some DTP.  I need to produce
  14. good quality black and white transparancies that have a high
  15. degree of opacity.  
  16. I can't spend more than $1000 on the thing, including any 
  17. expansion memory, first toner cartridge... I'd prefer a printer around
  18. $800 or lower.
  19. The first question - should I get a laser printer or this nifty
  20. color deskjet?
  21. How's the deskjet stack up? Is its printout opaque? Can it do 24bit color
  22. printout in 300dpi?  Can it print transparancies? And can it be expanded to PostScript someday?
  23. Ok, and then, if I decide to do the laserprinter thing - what kind do you
  24. recommend? I've seen a few brands for sale cheap - the TI Microlaser plus, the
  25. Epson ActionLaser, a low-end Panasonic, the IBM LaserPrinterE, and I've heard rumors about an inexpensive
  26. Okidata...  Any suggestions?
  27. I figure I'll need at least 1.5 megs for graphics... Is that reasonable? My 
  28. amiga has 6 megs - is that relevant?
  29. I'd really like to get a printer that I could add PostScript to later, if that's
  30. possible - unless there's something in this range that already has PS...
