- Has anyone gotten BaudBandit.device to work on an unaccelerated A500?
- It likes to crash my system when the device is opened. For the record,
- I've got AmigaDOS 1.3, a Rev 5 motherboard and a GVP Impact (one of the
- older ones) SCSI controller/memory expansion. I already know that the
- GVP board doesn't really like the Rev 5 motherboard, I just kind of
- live with it. I'm using version 1.0 (12-Jun-92) of BaudBandit. I
- heard rumors of a newer version, but ARCHIE couldn't find it for me.
-
- I suspect that I'm having a problem with interaction among the older
- motherboard, the memory expansion, and the BaudBandit.device. The
- symptoms are:
-
- JRComm -- Immediately gurus when I tell it to use BaudBandit. Same
- thing happens when I use QuickFix to intercept the call to
- serial.device and redirect it to BaudBandit.
-
- ATalkIII -- Same as JRComm.
-
- VLT -- Better results. It complains about trying to open
- BaudBandit.device unit 0, but it doesn't crash. It seems to
- work with QuickFix, though I'm not 100% sure it's actually
- opening BaudBandit.device instead of serial.device.
- Unfortunately my host was down last night and this morning, so
- I couldn't do time trials to find out!
-
- Anyone have similar experiences or workarounds? I'd prefer to use
- JRComm, but if I find that BaudBandit does work with VLT that'll be
- enough to move me over. (Anyone got a phonebook script for VLT that
- works with AmigaDOS 1.3?)
