  12. Well, I'm sure happy with the speed of my new SupraFax V32bis modem, but
  13. I have one major problem. I hope someone out there in this great big world
  14. can help me -

  16. I'm connecting to a remote modem that's a USR Dual Standard 2400-38.4,
  17. V42bis (and another that's a V32bis). Anyway, the connection usually goes
  18. okay (though sometimes it only connects at 9600, I'm not sure why).
  19. The problem is, once I've been connected , inevitably after a couple of 
  20. minutes the transmission will freeze and the modem will display
  21. 'RE' (recieveing error) and then followed by an 'TE' (transmission error),
  22. and everything will stay locked up for a minute or so and the connection
  23. will be severed.  WHY?

  25. I know of lots of different possibilities, but not which ones may really
  26. be the problem: i.e. handshaking (CTS/RTS or XON/XOFF;how do I know if my
  27. serial cable supports CTS/RTS?;phone cord length? (mine's over 50ft);
  28. line noise; etc. etc.)

  30. This is becoming a very annoying problem, as downloading anything is like
  31. walking on ice, since 99% of the way into a transmission it could just freeze
  32. up.  So, can anybody please help poor old me?
