- Well, I'm sure happy with the speed of my new SupraFax V32bis modem, but
- I have one major problem. I hope someone out there in this great big world
- can help me -
-
- I'm connecting to a remote modem that's a USR Dual Standard 2400-38.4,
- V42bis (and another that's a V32bis). Anyway, the connection usually goes
- okay (though sometimes it only connects at 9600, I'm not sure why).
- The problem is, once I've been connected , inevitably after a couple of
- minutes the transmission will freeze and the modem will display
- 'RE' (recieveing error) and then followed by an 'TE' (transmission error),
- and everything will stay locked up for a minute or so and the connection
- will be severed. WHY?
-
- I know of lots of different possibilities, but not which ones may really
- be the problem: i.e. handshaking (CTS/RTS or XON/XOFF;how do I know if my
- serial cable supports CTS/RTS?;phone cord length? (mine's over 50ft);
- line noise; etc. etc.)
-
- This is becoming a very annoying problem, as downloading anything is like
- walking on ice, since 99% of the way into a transmission it could just freeze
- up. So, can anybody please help poor old me?
-
- thanks,
- Aaron
