- First of all, don't use BAUD when you mean BPS (Bits Per Second), they
- are different units, and BAUD doesn't describe the data rate at all.
-
- The V.32 standard only supports speeds up to 9600 bps, so you won't be
- seing 12000 nor 14400 until your university upgrades to V.32bis. This
- is the rate between the modems, but that is NOT the same as the
- computer-modem rate. As you get a BTLZ compressed connection you
- should set your telecomm software to 4 times the connection rate.
- This is the theoretical maximum throughput. A DTE-DCE rate of 2 or 3
- times the modem rate will be enough in most cases.

-
- This indicates that you already have your DTE-DCE rate set correctly,
- as the compression is working well. You should consider yourself
- lucky, I only get ~900 cps, as my university only supports 9600 bps,
- no compression whatsoever!
