  14. I'm hoping someone can help me track down a paper I enjoyed reading
  15. around 1986 or so. It dealt with the problems the Andrew developers met
  16. when building on top of Berkeley UNIX. It included a lot of useful
  17. design criteria they developed to, for example, avoid exhausting
  18. resources inside the UNIX kernel, etc.  (A similarly useful paper came
  19. out of the SPRITE project at Berkeley as well, BTW.)
  20.  
  21. I've been through all the papers available via FTP on
  22. emsworth.andrew.cmu.edu, and neither those papers nor anything
  23. referenced in their bibliographies ring a bell (although Morris, "Make
  24. or Take" is close).  I've WAISed around the usual tech-report sources
  25. to no avail. And I spent an evening rummaging around in my hardcopy
  26. files and journals at home (hey, I'm desperate!).
