- Being one of the co-authors of the 'ntpd' package, let me say that it
- uses the NTP version 1 packet formats, but with most of the Version 2
- algorithms. It is, certainly, getting a bit long of tooth. Versions
- of it are shipped by at least DEC and NeXT with their systems.

- I'm not sure what "very large" means, but I run xntp3 on my
- workstation and it works very well. I don't recommend that anyone not
- already using the 'ntpd' package spend much time on it. There are no
- plans (at least *I* have no plans) to do any further work on it.
