- One of the 386 PCs in our department that is using a 3Com 3C507 ethernet
- board has started to produce error messages when the packet driver is
- loaded. The output from the packet driver is (error message underlined
- with "^^^"):
-
- Packet Driver for the 3C507, version 9.0.2
- Packet driver skeleton copyright 1988-91, Russel Nelson

- Packet driver is a segment 0FBB
- TDR: 2047 clocks away is a SHORT (not completely reliable)
- ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
- Interrupt number 0x3 (3)
- I/O port 0x300 (768)
- Memory address 0xD000 (53248)
- My Ethernet address is 00:60:8C:5A:C4:17
-
- If I read this correctly, this is telling me that there is a short in
- the Ethernet segment approximately 2047 clocks away (which is God--or at
- least Russel Nelson--knows how far away in feet or meters). Is this
- correct, and if so can some one tell me what physical distance this
- approximates?
-
- Thanks much in advance, and please reply via email.
