  20. You aren't well informed.  SNMP has security protocols in published RFCs.
  21. I personally have been using SNMP with those security protocols for
  22. about 6 months.  Others have been using them for longer than that.

  24. Setting of variables IS implemented (again, you don't know what you
  25. are talking about) in SNMP -- one can monitor and manage in a secure
  26. fashion without any risk of someone else controlling your network.
