  16. - Word Perfect Office mail users
  17. - DEC All-in-One users
  18. - A PMDF system that shuffles mail between the All-in-one users and the
  19.   Internet
  20. You will install, soon:
  21. - A RETIX-based gateway from WordPerfect Office to X.400 (I presume, although
  22.   you did not state the brand)

  24. Well, you have several options, based on what other equipment is available:

  26. - Wait for PMDF to come out with an X.400 gateway, and let that talk to the
  27.   RETIX system directly. This allows mail to flow
  28.        WPOffice->Retix->PMDF->Internet
  29.                             ->All-in-one
  30.  
  31. - Get PP onto an UNIX box. This beast (which is free) has both X.400 and
  32.   Internet channels. You will then have the mailflow
  33.        WPOffice->Retix->PP->Internet(->PMDF->All-in-one)
  34.  
  35. - Get DEC Message Router software for the All-in-One system. This is an
  36.   X.400 capable system, so you will be allowed the mailflow (I PRESUME)
  37.         WPOffice->Retix->MRX->PMDF->Internet
  38.                             ->All-in-one

  40. One word of (mild) fire and brimstone: The current version of the WP Office
  41. to X.400 gateway that I know of generates addresses that are, to put it
  42. mildly, interesting. Example (address changed to protect the guilty):

  44. /DD.WPMAIL=HOST(USER)/Givenname/Surname/@some.x400.mapped.domain
  45.  
  46. It also sends out messages that are not CRLF terminated; this screws
  47. up at least some X.400 systems (mine, for instance). (That is really my
  48. fault, not its; I should have fixed that bug.) But it seems to work.
