- Hi, I am interested to upgrading much of my network to
- Phase II Appletalk and System 7.
-
- I am running a big ethernet with Sun Sparcs, Vaxes,
- 5 Gatorboxes with many Macs, and several ethernetted Macs on it.
- Many users share Mac and Unix printers.
- We have recently installed Pathworks from DEC
- which permits file sharing, printer sharing, e-mail,
- and x-windows via our VAX-4000. Pathworks only runs under Phase II.
-
- I also have many users who are begging me to let them upgrade from
- System 6.0x to system 7. I want to upgrade most (but not all) of them.
-
- We are running Cap 6.0 patch level 45. We exclusively
- use Phase I Appletalk everywhere. We use System 6.0x almost
- everywhere.
-
- I think I need to a) reconfigure my gatorboxes b) re-compile my CAP
- c) visit my Macs to make sure they have Phase II or to put System
- 7 on them. But I have 5 gatorboxes, 4 CAP servers, and 100+ Macs.
-
- My question is:
-
- How should I proceed in an orderly non-disruptive fashion to do the
- upgrade? (and let the users do their business as usual)
