  14.     Recently I contacted a drive repair company to repair a hard drive that had died. They told me that they could try an operation that they refered to
  15. as "maintenance track writing." Can someone explain what "maintenance track
  16. writing is? I have seen maintenance track writers advertised in magazines. Can
  17. this operation be done by a utility from a DOS based machine, or does it 
  18. require special hardware? Any explanations or pointers to utilities would be
  19. appreciated.
