- Earlier this month the House passed HR 11, which is a tax bill that
- includes a provision for a uniform 14 year amortization period for
- newly acquired intellectual property. This presumably includes
- software, however protected.

- It would be nice if commercial software generally did have a 14 year
- useful life cycle, but most probably doesn't. Has the software
- community had any meaningful input into this legislation? How do
- people feel about having to amortize software over such a long period?
