- There are a few possibilities:
- 1. If sending to another VAX over DECnet, use the slightly documented /foreign
- qualifier. This will encode the message automatically.

- 2. If sending to some random system, use uuencode. It pretty poor, but is
- available on most any platform in existance.

- If sending to another VMS system but not using DECnet, use one of several
- encoding programs available for VMS which CODE and MFTU. Make sure the remote
- end has the same program!
