  12. PROBLEM: I need to be able to easily change a users group.

  14. REQUIREMENTS: Software to automate movement or ideas on the best path to follow.

  16. BACKGROUND:
  17.         I am running a departmental VAX3400 that has a very high user turnover.
  18. At the start of each year, there are several hundred accounts created. Most of
  19. these are third year student accounts, but some are second year accounts. The
  20. thrid year accounts are disposed of at the end of each year. The problem is the
  21. second year accounts. I need to 'upgrade' them from the second year group
  22. to the third year group. It is not just a simple matter of using AUTHORIZE to
  23. change the group ID. Each group is stored in a directory with the group name.
  24. So I need to do the following.
  25.         1. Change Diskquota entry.
  26.         2. Change VAXmail entry.
  27.         3. Move files to new directory.
  28.         4. Change ownership on files.
  29.         5. Change AUTHORIZE entry.

  31. If there is anyone who has written software to solve this problem, so who knows
  32. where I could find something to help start, then I would greatly appreciate
  33. it if you could let me have a copy, or let me know where I could get one.

  36. because if I can't find it somewhere I'll have to write it, and I can send a
  37. copy when it is completed.
