- Thanks for those people who answered my question about how to install VMS 5.5
- from CDROM. I was able to go all the way through till the point of automatic
- reboot after AUTOGEN. Then the machine just hang there and nothing happened
- thereafter. Below is a list of things I did:
-
- 1. Bootstrap into standalone backup on CDROM disc No.1
- 2. Restore VMS055.B saveset onto hard disk.
- 3. Halt system, reboot from hard disk.
- 4. 5.5 installation procedure comes up, asking some questions, then continues
- restoring.
- 5. Register license PAK.
-
- Then AUTOGEN was invoked by the installation procedure, GETDATA, GENFILES,
- SETPARAMS..., and performs an ordinarily system shutdown. Then
-
- 83 BOOT SYS
- -DKB200_ and hang forever!!!
-
- I heard there are some problems with 5.5, but I can't believe it's so bad as
- not to boot!!! So what's the problem here? Am I doing something wrong? Can
- somebody help me with this or I have to call DEC?
