  30. Don't know anything about Remote Tape Facility, but we did the same thing
  31. in twelve of our largest sites using a product called Thruway from
  32. Software Partners. Actually, we were backing up  63xx's and 64xx's
  33. to an 8mm on a 3300.

  35. Only real problem was, of course, when the network was flakey, the connection
  36. would be lost to the 3300, and the backup would abort. Thruway had logicals
  37. that could be set to control things like buffer size so we could tune it
  38. to some degree, however your network becomes your weakest link.

  40. I would check out Thruway as well; I am not associated with Software Partners
  41. in any way, but think they have a good product, and they do provide free
  42. loaners and good technical support.
