  12. I have to get a VAX/VMS machine talking to the Internet, but the
  13. configuration is looking a little odd, so I want to find all my
  14. options.

  16. The problem is to permit the VAX users to telnet out to Internet
  17. sites, with the following twist: these users are logging into the
  18. VAX through an X.25 data network, DATAPAC to be precise.
  19.  
  20. DATAPAC charges users by the packet, so these users have X.3
  21. parameters set for carriage-return packet forwarding, for
  22. line-at-a-time operation.

  24. Rumaging around in Internet RFC's for a while, I found RFC1184: the
  25. telnet linemode option, which appears to be what I want.
  26. Unfortunately, after calling lots of vendors, it seems that no
  27. currently available TCP/IP product for VAX/VMS supports this.

  29. There is a rumour around that UCX 2.0 will support it, but I am
  30. wondering just how it will behave? (what will it look like to the user?)
  31. Does any other company have support for this in the works?
