[...] I had this happen to my system too ... which was a *real* PITA because the node runs a DTSS server (currently without an external time provider) to keep all the machine clocks the same on the whole LAN. This unexpected change was very tedious to fix since with DECdts running "SET TIME" doesn't work and I had to read up on the DTSS$CONTROL command "SET EPOCH ..." before I could fix it, by which time some of the clients had started to drift their clocks ... What I'd like to know is why the upgrade (V5.4-2 -> A5.5) changed the clock at all? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name : Derek Dongray, Systems Manager, GenRad Ltd. The word I got from DEC on this was that it had something to due with the fact that it is a leap year. How that effects the kit, I have no idea, but both upgrades I did bumped system time by exactly 24 hours. On the "gotcha" end of things, don't do the queue upgrade until you go to 5.5-1. (Say no to it during the upgrade) Then follow the intrutions in the 5.5-1 release notes. Very straight forward and esy. Just remember, if you reboot the system before you do the 5.5-1 upgrade, make sure you're disks mount. I rebooted min to keep people off (yes, there are easier ways, but I have more software to install). The queue upgrade goes out to find the actual file and will display an error message if FNF. No probl em with a job that has been retained on error, but I caused me some headaches. Jim -- Jim Anderson Systems Manager Williams College Jim.Anderson@Williams.Edu
