  18. Brian, you make several good points, and I sympathize with the trouble
  19. you've been having.  I have posted your item internally, but have no idea
  20. what (or even if) the response will be.

  22. Let me address a couple of items:
  23.  - You found a bug in the optimizer, but didn't report it.
  24.      We here in C Set (and WorkFrame) development pride ourselves on
  25.      quick response to customer concerns, especially when they uncover
  26.      a bug.  Compiler bugs are worked immediately, and if necessary we will
  27.      fed-ex a fix out to you.  There is a compiler CSD available already
  28.      (came out last week), so your problem may already be fixed; failing
  29.      that we'll get some details from you, and start work on it immediately.
  30.      (I'll be contacting you off-line).
  31.  - Your desire for C++ and a profiler.
  32.      Please understand that a "new, open IBM" does imply that we should lay
  33.      _all_ our plans on the table - this is a competitive market.  You are
  34.      asking me for specific details about a future, unannounced version of
  35.      our product, and I just can't comment in that sort of detail.
  36.      Trust me: * Your concerns (and wishes) are being listened to.
  37.                * C Set/2 is a fully supported compiler, still undergoing
  38.                  development and enhancments.
  39.                * _I_ believe in making as much information as possible
  40.                  available to you, as soon as possible.  The decision to
  41.                  develop or not develop, announce or not announce, any given
  42.                  product, or component of that product, is very carefully
  43.                  thought out.  As soon as I _can_, I _will_ tell you.
  44.  - You say that we should have made available, from day 1, a development
  45.    environment "WITH ALL THE PROGRAMMING DOCS (at least on-line), and
  46.    the hard copies of docs AT COST."
  47.      Correct me if I've misunderstood you, but the programming docs are
  48.      provided (on-line) with the toolkit (part of the WorkSet).  Look in
  49.      your toolkit folder, under "Toolkit information".    -tim
