- Well, NCSA Telnet is broken!
-
- Our Telent is a little unusual:
-
- Normally, under DOS, we have a packet driver call IPXPKT that sends
- Telnet and FTP stuff over Novell's IPX. Then a gateway sends it to
- the destination.
-
-
- I installed the Netware requestor, which provides IPX connections
- to DOS sessions, and I load the packet driver, and then start telnet.
- At first telent runs, and I can even login to the Suns, but the connection
- soon goes bad. According to Telnet, it claims "network jammed" or "break
- in connections". However the LAN is fine. So the packet driver must be
- getting killed somehow.
-
- We have Arcnet on our Novell LAN, but the requestor doesn't have Arcnet.
- The Trxnet option seems to work instead, but that may be what's causing the
- problem. (I won't hold my breath for proper Arcnet drivers for the card)
-
- On a side note, the Novell requestor has caused an avalanche of
- problems for DOS/Windows programs. Windows might start from
- a DOS prompt, but not from a desktop icon. Programs have DOS versoin
- problems where they didn't before...Has anyone had anything similar happen?
