- Can anyone help with this?
-
- Hardware: 486/SX, 8 Meg RAM, TsengLabs MegeEVA card run SVGA 1024/7xx/256
- SMC (WD) Ethercard PLus
-
- Software: OS/2 v2.0 (+spool, hpfs, rexx, blackicon, fixkernl patches),
- Orchid VGA screen drivers, IBM TCP/IP 1.2.1 + Xserver + NFS.
-
- Problem #1: when I have several windows open, and try to move one, the
- screen freezes. This is not repeatable: it has happened so far when moving
- a PMFTP window, when moving a directory window, and when exiting a
- Word for Windows 2 session, and twice when attempting to set up
- the WPS printing with lpr. The FTP transfer finished, but I could't telnet into
- it to try to restart WPS or kill off the blocking process.
-
- Problem #2: I've read that W4W 2 has a needed bug fix, to work with OS/2 v2.0.
- Microsoft are refusing to supply the fix unless I can state exactly what the
- problem is I need fixing (even though we buy hundreds of licenses from
- them!!). Could someone give me a good story to tell them: I'm sick of
- begging! Also, I have also read that some revised version of OS/2 is needed
- (sorry if this is old ground): do I have to call IBM, or will applying the
- patches from Hobbes give me the same result?
-
- Problem #3: talk and talkd do not answer from Suns. Has anyone got this going?
-
- Problem #3: When LaMail attempts to open a letter (new or existing) it opens
- an advanced editor session: but this is tiny, and the characters write on the
- wrong part of the screen! The card is obviously being driven wrong, but
- LaMail is also opening up a stupid-sized window in the firstplace. Any
- fixes?
-
- Hint #1: When setting up TCP/IP using ICAT, I had to have two
- default routes: one of the TCP/IP address of the PC & metric 0,
- and the other with the IP address of our (only) gateway, and a metric 1.
- This is different from the settings our Suns and cutcp PCs like.
-
- Hint #2: IBM ICAT often will store settings into CONFIG.SYS after
- converting them to uppercase. This is not a good idea! It is
- especially stupid for passwords, usernames, hostnames. If you
- think you've done everything fine, and it still doesn't work,
- edit CONFIG.SYS, or \TCPIP\ETC\HOSTS or whatever, to put in
- lowercase entries if required.
