- WP>So I finally called IBM support and they told me that the problem was
- WP>my phoenix bios is too old (1991). They said I needed to up rev to
- WP>revision dated 05-11-92! Is this right?! Is anyone out there running
- WP>OS2 2.0 on phoenix bios roms dated before this year's May!??
-
- I chatted with someone down in Boca Raton who informed me that all the
- ALR machines they tested required the latest Phoenix upgrade to work
- with OS/2. I then called ALR to enquire as to the cost/availablity of a
- new BIOS for my ALR (current BIOS is 1989 vintage) and was told that
- version that I had heard was required was only used in the latest 486
- boxes and that my machine was fine as is. I installed OS/2 and haven't
- had any problems. Do you need a new BIOS? - that depends. On what? I
- don't know. But you'll find many people happily using older versions.
