- At (primary) work, I have a network of OS/2 1.3 workstations
- that are about to be switched to 2.0 (when I can replace LAN
- Manager with LAN Server - one more week - tick TOCK!).
-
- I just sold one system, a 486DX-33 with OS/2 2.0 on it to an
- individual. (OS/2 is now a condition of my consulting.) It
- ran, o.k., but certainly wasn't as crisp as 1.3. Anywayz,
- the client seems happy with it.
-
- At work, however, I decided to install v2.0 on a standalone
- 386DX-25 today. Mildly: it sucks! I've got 8MB, and it's
- awful. I'm running HPFS and all I see are disk accesses
- when I do anything. Win-OS2 is a snail. DeScribe 3.0 drags
- on and on.
-
- Some of the workstations on the net are 386SX-20's. I (quite
- literally) shudder to think about how those will perform.
-
- I've looked through the FAQ and tips files, but I don't see
- anything of monumental help.
-
- On the upside, I was helping a co-worker with his (personal)
- Windows (3.1) workstation. It's even worse.
-
- I'd love to hear what I might be doing wrong. Tomorrow I plan
- to reinstall (and be sure to shutdown immediately), and try
- reformatting with a fresh HPFS and, perhaps, (yech!) FAT
- partitions.
-
- Thanks for any help you have to offer!
