- I must say I tried WIN3.1 yesterday on my system, with ATI vantage, and it
- really is fast! why is os2 so slow (in comparision)?
-
- BTW, its a good idea to unfregment the OS2 partition (by booting dos).
- Pctools compress version 6.0 works, at least if you dont re-order directories
- (I didnt try it, I worry about it touching the ext.attr. bits)
- This does speed OS2 up (if you have FAT. if you have HPFS, good luck.
- it might be more freg. resistent, but it cant prevent it...) seems like
- the OS2SYS.INI file gets fregmented, and really slow things down. I had
- e.g. the 'OS2 system' folder take 8 seconds to open, compared to 2 when
- it was 'new'. Software that degrade with use, ha? :-)

- Well I keep OS/2. I can't imagine going back to DOS... or use Win3.1. I
- tried to compile in the background while I played Solitate in Windows. th
- compilation stopped as soon as I switched from it. When I returned it
- sometimes continued, sometimes got stack. I can't imagine anyone using
- Win3.1 except for windows programs, one at a time....
-
- But you are RIGHT. OS2 is full of bugs/problems. How can IBM say
- quality success? this term amazes me.

- I B M ! ! ! A R E Y O U L I S T E N ING ?!? ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
-
- Os2 is FULL of bugs/problems, and you had 4 months to fix them. I have
- yet to see a single fix for common WPS problems (e.g bad redraws, icon
- crazt, setup forgoten, cant shutdown).
- Same for most DOS problems (crashes, can't close, slowed scrolling, etc).
-
- GET ON WITH THE FIXES!! before u give us Win3.1 we dont really need,
- fix the god damn bugs! Otherwise OS2 is doomed to fail, and I would
- hate to install NT on top of it and learn yet another OS details.
- [assuming of course NT would be better. I know I know... I can always hope!]
-
- I B M ! ! ! In four months you had to fix OS2, all you fixed are small
- install problems and some misc. stuff. the XCOPY bug the 1st poster
- described is a shame. If I was in the OS/2 team, I would be hate to admit
- we have such a bug in such a simple basic command and we dont bother
- to fix it. What is going on?!
-
- Anything 'stronger' I can post to get a reply from some IBM'er? I know
- you guys read the net?! I can describe 30 bugs in OS2 myself, without
- even trying to do QA... But I dont have the time to report all of these.
- I mean, one ro two bugs I do report, but 30?! In april, when I first
- saw the problems, we were talking 'June CSD'. July is almost over... no
- fixes in sight...
