- I'm pleased to say YES!!!!!!
- I just finished the port of it last night.
- (I had done a build of it on friday but found bugs...)
-
- There is only one problem, the license that comes with pov
- prohibites one from distributing binaries that they make.
- I have sent email to two of the heads of the POV team, but I
- haven't gotten any response.
-
- The license states that I need "written permission"
- in order to distribute the binaries.
-
- I am willing to give you what I have done so far, so long as
- you don't give it to anyone without them asking for it from me,
- this way I can't get it
- (whoops) I can't get in too much trouble....
-
- But if I give binaries to people, they had better not upload them to
- an ftp site or anything until we get permission.
-
- I sent mail to both David Buck, and to Drew Wells.
- And I called Drew Wells on the phone and left a message
- on his answering machine.
-
- I did the port using the IBM C Set/2 kit, and it is a 32 bit
- executable, and I have run a bunch of test files through it, and
- so far it seems to run very well...
- I haven't benchmarked it against the executable that they are
- currently distributing though...
-
- I also have a port of the pbmplus image processing package underway...
- I have most of the pixmap stuff finished, and I'm writing an online
- reference for OS/2 (.inf file)
-
- Someone else already tried to port the pbmplus stuff, they put their
- binri
-
- binaries in the hobbes /pub/downloads directory, but I tried them and
- none of the ppm stuff seemed to work right, and the doc file that came
- with it said the
-
- said that he didn't test the executables. (which is probably why they
- don't work...)
-
- I have tested mine, and the ones that are done, definitely work properly.
-
- Anyone that wants my POV-Ray binary, should send me mail...
- I'll use the mail as evidence that there is a NEED for OS/2 binaries
- to be distributed...
- I'll just say that anyone that uses my binary is just helping me to
- beta test it :-)
- (which is not altogether untrue...)
-
- Also, anyone that wants the peices of pbmplus that are finished can send me
- mail and I'll arrange to have them available...
