- Description of machine:
- 486DX2-50Mhz, AT bus speed 8.33MHz, NO shadow ROMS
- ADAPTEC 1542B SCSI
- MICROPOLIS 1578-15 330MB
- TRIDENT 8900C 1MB
-
- Problem:
- After 5th disk is installed and the machine is rebooted from drive C:
- Crash with TRAP E, register dump etc......
- HPFS installation for OS/2 2.0
-
- Scenario:
- Want this:
-
- 1MB boot manager
- 75MB pri DOS 331
- 235MB ext/log OS2 2.0 HPFS
-
- result : above mentioned crash!
-
-
- okay, how about:
-
- 321 MB (max size reported) OS/2 2.0 HPFS
- result: crash, as above
-
- The only way to install it w/o crash:
-
- 1MB boot mgr.
- 75MB pri DOS 3.31
- 100MB pri OS/2 2.0
- 35MB ext/log FAT
- 100MB ext/log HPFS
-
-
- I think this is rather clumsy use of resources.
- BTW, T800x600x16 works nice, I also installed ALL fixes, the machine is
- stable as never before. And fast too! I had before DUAL BOOT and Pro IIs.
- This current setup is excellent (for me ;-)) ...if I just could get it right
- Also, when I am done with the last install scenario (1/75/100/35/100)
- the drive E (100MB HPFS) cannot be formatted only after CONFFIG.SYS
- is modified (i.e. IBMINT13.I13 is removed) and the new ADAPTEC driver
- (6-10-92) is installed and machine rebooted.
- Any thoughts, comments? Please help. Thanks.
