- Well, I got my copy of OS/2 (and there was much rejoicing).
-
- While I seemed to be lucky in that my installation went smoothly, I am
- having some problems with running my BBS from a DOS window.
-
- I have my USR Sportster 2400 set on COM4 (I don't have COM3 enabled), with
- my mouse on COM1, and nothing on COM2.
-
- Now, before I read the FAQ, I tried running the board, and everything worked
- fine for the first caller. Then, sometime between when he hung up and the
- next caller (I didn't see the situation happen) the window locked. Unfortunately
- the person who restarted the computer did not write the error message down, so
- I don't have the error message...
-
- Then, after reading the FAQ, I tried inserting the parameters to have com4
- work proper and then, when I tried to run anything from DOS or Windows, I
- got a message on the lines of "Not a valid dos or os/2 program, or maybe
- not enough memory", although my os/2 programs still worked. (Or at least I was
- able to open an os/2 window and do a boot /dos...) Later, when I removed my
- change to the config.sys for os/2, the dos and windows programs worked again.
-
- Any suggestions?
-
- Now, the BBS I am trying to run is a Searchlight BBS, on a machine with 4 Megs
- of ram (soon being upgraded to 16) on a 486/33. If anyone has any suggestions
- on how to get the board to run, I would be most greatful.
-
- And, if anyone has suggestions on either shareware or commercial OS/2 BBS's
- that I should look at, drop me a line...
-
- Thanks...
-
