- I have been running OS/2 2.0 since its release (or as soon after as I got my
- hands on it). I just changed machines from a 386-33 to a 386-40. I have 2
- Network cards a SMC Elite 16 and a NE1000. The second one is for a
- proprietary Telnet application that requires a packetdriver(This is a very
- annoying bug). I have a Generic TSENG 4000 1 Meg SVGA Card an IDE Card that
- has the serial and parallel ports on it. I am running OS/2 on the same
- Motherboard at home and I am pretty sure that it isn't the problem.
-
- The problem I am having is that about 1 out of 3 times on Bootup It will get
- to the OS/2 2 Logo right at the point where it checks the serial ports and
- the modem lights flash and before it loads the network drivers. I assume
- that this is the point it is executing the first part of the config.sys.
-
- At this point It just HANGS Solid waiting for hours does nothing I must
- reset the machine and it will boot. I have applied most of the patches that
- would affect this. OS/2 LDR file the HPFS.IFS file Hmmm and most of the
- rest of them. Now for the really wierd part. IF INSTEAD OF GOING THROUGH
- SHUTDOWN I JUST HIT RESET IT NEVER LOCKS. I realize the problems this can
- cause but what difference is it if it locks on Boot up and I hit reset or I
- close all windows and I hit reset. Not Much. It still has to run through
- the chkdks. (Thank goodness for the HPFS fix).
-
- Any ideas anyone.
