- When I try to install OS/2 on my 386/33 using 5 1/4" disks, the first disk
- loads the IBM screen that requests the second disk, Disk #1. I then insert
- Disk #1, press ENTER and wait, and wait, and wait . . . .
-
- I phoned IBM and they said that I would have to turn off disk caching and,
- maybe, asynchronous memory refreshing.
-
- I then phoned my Dealer and spoke to a tech who did not know how this could be
- accomplished (and tried to talk me out of installing OS/2).
-
- My manual says that I can turn off disk caching by using "DEBUG" at the DOS
- prompt, and gives me the 3 command lines to do so BUT I can't get to a command
- line when I'm installing! According to the manual, restarting the computer
- turns disk caching back on.
-
- I must admit, I'm not too happy a camper at present. Does anyone have any
- suggestions or do I have to say goodbye to OS/2 until I can afford compatible
- hardware?
-
- Thanx in advance for any help that anyone may be able to provide
-
- :( :( :( :(
