- Are you using an 8-bit connection? If you (or your modem) connected
- at E-7-1, instead of N-8-1, then zmodem has to quote all high-bit
- words, a-la kermit. This can slow you down a lot. Since printable
- characters all have their high-bit cleared, text transfers wouldn't be
- affected.
-
- On your Unix side, type "stty everything" to see what it thinks you're
- connected at.
-
- On my system, I get the following output:
-
- >new tty, speed 19200 baud , 43 rows, 111 columns
- >even odd -raw -nl echo -lcase -tandem -tabs -cbreak
- >crtbs crterase crtkill -ctlecho -prterase -tostop
- >-tilde -flusho -litout pass8 -nohang -autoflow
- >-pendin -decctlq -noflsh
- >erase kill werase rprnt flush lnext susp intr quit stop eof
- >^? ^U ^W ^R ^O ^V ^Z/^Y ^C ^\ ^S/^Q ^D
-
- Note that the pass8 option is active.
