  20. Are you using an 8-bit connection?  If you (or your modem) connected
  21. at E-7-1, instead of N-8-1, then zmodem has to quote all high-bit
  22. words, a-la kermit.  This can slow you down a lot.  Since printable
  23. characters all have their high-bit cleared, text transfers wouldn't be
  24. affected.

  26. On your Unix side, type "stty everything" to see what it thinks you're
  27. connected at.
