  14. I recently got a Diamond SpeedSTAR-24 card, and would like to use the Win
  15. 3.0 drivers that came with it to drive Win-OS2. I should point out that I
  16. am currently using an old SpeedSTAR 1024x768x256 driver successfully with
  17. Win-OS2, but the new turbo drivers are significantly faster when I tested
  18. them under real Windoze 3.0.

  20. To patch in the new driver, I did essentially the same thing as I did for
  21. the old one: I changed the driver= line in os2\mdos\winos2\system.ini to
  22. wspdtbf.drv (from vga478.drv, the old driver) and I added the line
  23. "driver=SpeedSTAR Turbo Windows -1024x768x256" to the [boot.description]
  24. section to match the real Windoze system.ini. I also have it set up to use
  25. the 8514 system fonts and the *f.fon fonts (the same as with the old
  26. driver).

  28. So now I start Win-OS2: while loading it tells me that it loaded the turbo
  29. drivers in 1024x768 mode and it then gives me my basic desktop.  However,
  30. if I now start up WordPerfect for Windows or if I try to preview some of the
  31. fonts in the "control panel" window, it gives me the following error message:

  36. I get the identical message every time. Anyone have any guesses as to what
  37. this means? It seems to be font related, but I've tried various
  38. permutations of Win-OS2 fonts and SpeedSTAR fonts without success (the
  39. SpeedSTAR fonts don't seem to work at all). If anyone out there has
  40. successfully run the Turbo Windows drivers, I'd love to hear from you. If
  41. you can tell me what that error message means, I'd love to hear from you,
  42. too. Thanks.
