  14. I think you have really answered your own question, that there is some
  15. fatal flaw with the hard drive you have been using.  Hopefully the
  16. hard drive is still under warranty and can be exchanged.

  18. I do not know of any magic bullet that will fix your problem -- I
  19. haven't heard of any problems relating to Conner hard drives in
  20. general.  I think you just happen to have a bad hard drive in this
  21. particular case.

  23. As a last ditch effort, though, try the following:
  24.  
  25. (1) Perform a CHKDSK /F per the instructions in the OS/2 FAQ List.
  26. (2) Perform a restoration to "factory defaults" of the desktop and
  27. CONFIG.SYS using the ALT-F1 trick described in the OS/2 README file in
  28. the root directory.
  29. (3) Perform a reformat/reinstall of OS/2 on that hard drive.  The
  30. reformat is important -- I would not skip that step.
