- Hello Everyone,
-
- I am indeed most happy to announce that the 1-2-3 ver. 3.1 under OS/2
- saga is over ! And, what's more everything finally works like it is supposed
- to :) ! I don't know excatly waht was causing previous problems, but here
- is how I fixed them:
-
- 1. I started with the POLOS2.ZIP file. Because I previosuly copied
- the program template I used that except that in the DOS Settings
- I reset everything to the DEFAULT values before I put in the
- changes described by POLOS2.
-
- 2. I entered ONE setting change at a time and made sure that the
- program ran ok. I noticed following differences between what
- IBM OS2TNT (TNT = Tips and Techniques) says and what the POLOS2
- says:
- OS2TNT POLOS2
- ------ ------
- DOS_UMB On Off
- DOS_HIGH On Off
-
- DOS_VERSION INSTALL.EXE,3,40,255 123.EXE,3,40,255
- 123.EXE,3,40,255 123DOS,3,40,255
- LOTUS.EXE,3,40,255 INSTALL.EXE,3,40,255
- 123DOS.EXE,3,40,255 TRANS.EXE,3,40,255
- ZAP.EXE,3,40,255
- INS.EXE,3,40,255
-
- DPMI_MEMORY_LIMIT 4 or higher 4
-
- 3. Finally, I have set up the following batch file in my 3.1 directory
- and entered c:\lot310\lot310.bat in the Path and file name field.
- I've also entered c:\lot310 in the working directory field.
-
- @ECHO OFF
- CLS
- PROMPT $p$g
- PATH=C:\LOT310
- SET 123MEMSIZE=2048
- 123.EXE
-
- With all of the above in place, 1-2-3 ver. 3.10 runs fine in both DOS Full
- Screen abd DOS Window modes. In the latter, the colors are rearranged and
- thus far I have not played around with their settings, but that is now a
- minor annoyance.
-
- With all this beinhd me, I now have the followign questions: (1) what
- do the 3,40,255 settings mean and which files should typically be entered in
- the DOS_VERSION settings ? (2) Which of the above described discrepancies was
- most likely the cause of my truobles ? In closing, I would like to thank
- everyone on this forum for their generous help and helpful suggetsions.
-
- Best Regards to All,
- John Duchowski
