  14. I've been round and round with two different company's machines, three
  15. different hard drives, and hours wasted to try to fix this problem.  I
  16. hope someone has experienced the same type of thing.

  18. I have a 486-33Mhz (Soyo motherboard, AMI bios), with a 200 Mb Conner
  19. HD set up as one big partition.  OS/2 installed fine--like a champ--no
  20. problems.  The system is quite stable.  BUT--whenever I open a WPS
  21. window (like by double-clicking on the OS/2 system icon), it takes
  22. between 20 seconds and 3 *minutes* to close it!

  24. I've linked it somehow to the hard drive--I have an 80 Mb Maxtor with
  25. OS/2 on it, and when I plug that drive into the machine I don't have
  26. the problem.  Also, I have a 486-33 with AMI bios and a Maxtor 120Mb
  27. HD at home and it doesn't have this problem.

  29. Is it a patch I need?  Or do I need to repartition the HD into smaller
  30. chunks?  That seems silly since HPFS was designed with big drives in
  31. mind.

  33. I also tried fiddling with the HPFS cache size.  I bumped it up to 1
  34. meg and also tried 256K, and neither made a difference.

  36. I was planning on moving to OS/2 as my development environment
  37. at work, but this window-closing problem really makes that impossible.
