  25. and bandwidth. ;-)  I'd still like to see more comparisons between these
  26. two.

  28. A couple questions I hope some knowledgable Mac folks can answer for me:
  29. someone told me that MacOS has memory protection, implemented by a program
  30. called Crash Barrier that costs $50, anyone know more about this?  If it
  31. truly does what it's supposed to do, why is it not more well-known?

  33. Since I've only read the first two volumes of Inside Mac, I don't know how
  34. AppleEvents and Publish and Subscribe works.  Anyone care to explain it to
  35. me?  Or at least tell me which volume of Inside Mac it's covered so I can
  36. check it out myself?

  38. Now a question for the OS/2 gurus.  What are the capabilities of OS/2's
  39. IPC?  Specifically, I want to know how powerful OS/2's namepipe, semaphore
  40. and message passing mechanisms are.  Can I for example write a namepipe and
  41. send a message to another program telling it how to operate on the data
  42. contained in the namepipe and receive message back?  If you have knowledge
  43. on how other OS's (Mac, Unix) IPC mechanism works, could you post a compa-
  44. rason?

  46. I know I should've picked up _Design of OS/2_ by Kogan and Keitel, but my
  47. school bookstore tried to rip me off (as usual) with a sticker price of $45
  48. for this little book.  I've heard people getting it for half as much,
  49. anyone know where I can buy one cheaply?  Thanks.
