- I too am having problems getting TCP/IP to work.
-
- I installed from CD-ROM with the graphical setup and everything went o.k. I
- then used the Network Control Applet to set up a Western Digital WD8013E LAN
- card, (from the menu) with TCP/IP settings:
-
- Default Gateway: 133.164.130.254
- Netmask: 255.255.255.0
- IP Address: 133.164.131.2
-
- My LAN card is set up using the defaults:
-
- IRQ: 2
- Memory Base: 0
- IO Port: 0x200
-
- I did all my setup using the graphical screens, and I did not fuss with
- regedit.
-
- I am trying to plug this machine into a Sun Workstaion net, and
- we don't have any other Windows machines on the net. I am trying to
- get TCP/IP support only.
-
- After the machine rebooted from the above changes, I brought up a DOS
- window and entered:
-
- net start tcpipsvc /trace
-
- and got:
-
- The TCPIPSVC service is starting...
-
- A window appears, and then immediately disappears! I cannot see
- any of the messages! The startup has failed and I am left with:
-
- The TCPIPSVC service could not be started
-
- How do I keep the trace window on the sceen long enough to read it?
-
- I'm at a loss as to how to debug this. Can anyone make any suggestions?
