-
- Of course, the "Preliminary Windows32 SDK" is meant for developers only, and
- the hope on MS' end is that if you are going to purchase it $69 or $399
- (w/docs) is that you actually use it for developing Win32 Apps... But who's
- to stop you from purchasing the Preliminary CD-ROM today!
-
- The official MS line (as far as I understand it) is... You pay the $69 +
- shipping of ~$20. This will include the Windows NT binaries for Mips/Intel
- The Win32 SDK, Plus as an added advantage (because there are not really that
- many Win32 C/C++ compilers out there) they will be giving you a version of
- their C/C++ 7.0 compiler that will compile 32 bit code. You WILL get all
- updates up to and including the final release of the SDK + the binaries.
- (if you purchase the $399 Docs option you WILL recieve finals of the DOX as
- well!) The extra shipping costs are to cover ALL the updates instead of asking
- you to pay for shipping of all updates when they are avilable...
-
- Of course It's a great deal, and I've got it already (heck I can get started
- today writting Win32 apps!!). But be aware, DOS/Win16 support has NOT been
- fully tested, and you will find bugs there. They hope to get all that
- straightened out by the Actual Beta time frame. So if you really want
- to just test WindowsNT, it would probably be best to wait till Sept. I'm sure
- MS will make it just as inticing then to join on as they have for the
- Prelim Win32 SDK.
-
- Godd luck.
-
- Hope this helps.
