- We're currently looking into purchasing a third-party Windows communications
- library, for supporting modem control (for Hayes and other modems), various
- communication protocols (e.g., ASCII, XMODEM), etc. -- though we're most
- interested in modem support. (Rather than have to screw around with it
- ourselves.) We're using Microsoft C/C++ 7.0 (though are not currently
- programming much with C++). Our only other major requirement is that there
- should be no run-time royalties for using the libraries. We've heard about
- two libraries in particular: Crystal Software's CrystalComm for Windows, and
- Magna Carta's C Communications Toolkit/Windows. If you've had any
- experience using or evaluating these packages (or any other communication
- libraries), I'd really appreciate a word or two on your impressions of them.
