- Hi!
- I'm new to the MS-DOS world. I saw an advertisement in a
- magazine for a computer with a 386DX that goes at 33 MHz
- for $999. The ad had no mention of a cache though. Won't
- the whole RAM access problem slow the CPU down
- considerably? Will I get any extra benefit from it as
- opposed to a 386SX at 25 MHz? If I bought the 386DX at 33
- MHz could I get a cache for it later? What exactly would be
- involve in adding a cache, e.g. soldering, simple plug in?
- Does a 386SX at 25 MHz actually go at 25 MHz or does it
- need a cache too? Would I be better off with an SX at 16
- MHz? Would a 33 MHz 386DX with no cache ran significantly
- faster then a 25 MHz 386SX with no cache under something
- like Windows NT or OS/2.0, due to the fact the DX is more
- of a 32 bit CPU then the SX is?
-
- Thanks in advance.
