  12. I am new to Linux.  Just install Linux using MCC interim version, get the
  13. 0.96c + the two patches and get it to compile no problem (except I have
  14. to explicit make a directory 'msdos' under fs before applying patch 2).

  16. I have a few problems after booting up from the new Image.

  18. 1. When booting up it said I have 3 tty serial ports: 1 on irq 4 and
  19.    2 onirq 3.  I know I have only two serial ports on irq 4 irq 3.
  20.    Is it possible something is wrong?

  22. 2. The vi I got from MCC interim add an extra blank space everytime I do an
  23.    insert (command 'i') of blank space.  Do I need to download a new binary
  24.    and where can I find this.

  26. 3. I ran a program call TOP and get a segmentation fault, nore core however.
  27.    Any idea? (BTW, I donwload the 0.96b verision of ps from source).

  29. 4. Also, when the system boots up, it said no bus mouse detected.
  30.    I am using the mouse port that comes with the ATI Graphics Ultra board.
  31.    Any idea?  I am planning to upgrade to X.  Did any get the Graphics

  34. 5. I am new to GNU stuff too. Where can I get info, FAQ for all the GNU tools?

  37. 6. I saw some news about using extended and MSDOS file systems and the source
  38.    indicated that it has something like this but I can't find any doc. about
  39.    how to use it, e.g. mount the system, etc.  Can any give me some pointers
  40.    or is it something still in ALPHA and I am not suppose to use it?

  42. 7. Is there any tools, ways to make all my executables using shared libraries?

  44. If it help this is my system configuration:

  46. DTK 386-25, 8MB RAM with 172 IDE drive using ATI Graphics Ultra VGA 1MB
  47. with the mouse on the Video board. A CTX SVGA monitor (1024x768).

  49. 132 MB for DOS/Windows 3.1, 32 MB for Linux and 8 MB for swap.

  51. I would like to say MCC interim makes installation very easy and all the
  52. tools are right there in a single package.

  54. One comment, the directories in banjo and tsx-11 are a little bit confusion.
