- OK, folks, here it is: How to keep Linux entirely (err, almost) on a
- second hard disk and still be able to boot without a floppy. Here's
- what you do:
-
- [Note: I have two Conner IDE drives. The primary is a 119mb, and the
- second drive is a 84mb. The following *is not guaranteed to work for
- you* ... but it probably will!]
-
- Enjoy,

-
- Just to back this up, I have a system set up with 2 IDE Drives as
- follows:
-
- Disk 0: 48Mb DR-DOS
- 48Mb Minix-fs for /usr/src
- 4Mb Minix-fs for Minix root
- 24Mb Minix-fs for Linux /usr
-
- Disk 1: 4Mb Minix-fs for Linux root
- 8Mb Swap space
- 64Mb Minix-fs for /home
- 40Mb Minix-fs for Minix /usr
-
- With this set-up, partition 3 of drive 0 is the active partition,
- and boots up the Minix Boot Monitor. This can automatically find
- the right Minix kernel on /dev/hda3. BUT, it can also get DOS
- to boot from /dev/hda1, and Linux to boot from /dev/hdb1 (after
- installing Shoelace on the first partition of Drive 1).
-
- Note that both my Minix and Linux systems mount and use 2 of the
- partitions,
- and I have had no problems with either file system.
