  26. One of the beauties of linux is that, in the long run, we are not tied down
  27. to intel any more.  While portint the OS itself would be a chore (I understand
  28. much of the code is very i386 specific), linux as a standard os (with standard
  29. sys calls, etc.) could probably be made to run just about anywhere.  If it
  30. should become the operating system of choice in the future, we will probably
  31. be much freeer to pick and chose the hardware of our choice (motorola, alpha?)
