  15. The DECUS Library can now accept some submissions electronically.  The 
  16. following are the guidelines for submitting material to the DECUS Library 
  17. via electronic means.

  20. Guidelines for Electronic submission to the DECUS Library.
  21.  
  22. 1.  Items can be submitted to the DECUS Library electronically.  The only 
  23. current electronic method is via Electronic Mail.  Mail can be Internet or 
  24. from the DECUServe system via DECnet.  The addresses are 
  25. decuslibrary@decus.org from the Internet or TOPAZ::DECUSLIBRARY from the
  26. DECUServe system.

  28. 2. Submissions need to be smaller than 2000 VAX disk blocks (1 MB) in size in
  29. order to be  submitted electronically.  Anything larger than that must be
  30. submitted using a  magnetic media.
  31.  
  32. 3. Submissions still require that a signed Library Submission form be
  33. filled out a  sent into the Library.  The form, which is attached, can
  34. either be sent through normal Mail (US  Mail) or FAXed to (508) 841-3357. 
  35. A submission will not be processed if  a Library Submission form is not
  36. received.  When you send in the electronic  submission of the software, you
  37. will need to indicate whether you are sending  the submission form in
  38. through the Postal service or FAX.  The Postal address  for the submission
  39. form is:

  45. 4. Submissions can be of any type the Library currently accepts.  They can be 
  46. DOS, Macintosh, RSX, RT, IAS, VMS, TOPS, Ultrix, etc.  Since electronic mail 
  47. is an ascii only system, you will most likely have to encode the submission to 
  48. send it through E-Mail.  The following are supported ways of encoding the 
  49. submission:

  51.     UUENCODEd files
  52.     MFTU Encoded files
  53.     VMS_Share submissions
  54.     Unix SHARE submissions
  55.  
  56. The Library can also handle the following formats which can be used to
  57. compress the file for mailing:
  58.  
  59.     LZW Compress or GNU Compress Files (including BACKUP Savesets)
  60.     UNIX Compress
  61.     VMS Compressed Libraries
  62.     ZIP Archives
  63.     ARC Archives
  64.     ZOO Archives
  65.     LHARC Archives
  66.  
  67. 5. In many cases the Library will be able to accept a source code submission 
  68. and generate the objects and executable images.  Some times it may be required 
  69. to have the full submission, including the objects and executable as part of 
  70. the submission.  If you only want to submit the source, please insure that a 
  71. good command procedure or make file or other script is supplied to rebuild the 
  72. program(s).  It is encouraged to have you check about submitting source only 
  73. before doing such.  Such message should be sent to decuslibrary@decus.org.

  75. 6.  Extremely small submissions may be collected to be put into a larger 
  76. submission.  Such items would be command procedures and small utility 
  77. programs of like types (system manager utilities).  Full credit will be given 
  78. to each submittor for their submission.
