  14. The OS/2 Multimedia Extensions (MMPM/2) provide audio capabilities 
  15. including digital audio capture  & playback, as well as line audio
  16. channel control, volume, bass, etc.

  18. The digital audio interface is via either a string-based language 
  19. or a message based protocol.  Other devices, such as videodisc 
  20. players, MIDI, etc are similarly controlled.  Digital audio does 
  21. require an adapter of some nature, supported by a driver compatible
  22. with the OS/2 MMPM/2 system.  One such is the IBM M-Audio Adapter/A,
  23. as well as a variety of third-party boards with drivers underway.
  24. You can capture and replay in 11K, 22K, or 44K sample rates at 
  25. 8 or 16 bit sample sizes.  Depending on the adapter, of couse.
  26. Some support both PCM methods and ADPCM compression, such as the 
  27. IBM M-Audio Adapter.
