  18. Last time I looked at the 3.0 documentation (haven't got 3.1 yet), it had
  19. a fairly detailed explanation of the interface to XObjects. This was in the
  20. "Interactivity" manual, as I recall. There was even an explanation of how
  21. to use externals developed for HyperCard, and what sort of limitations they
  22. had to stick to to work.

  28. Call this a personal prejudice, but MacroMind Director isn't my idea of
  29. a good "extensible application" that you could use as a control centre for
  30. accessing data from other applications for use in a combined presentation. I
  31. prefer to do that sort of thing in HyperCard, or perhaps an alternative like
  32. SuperCard. HyperCard in particular has *much* more extensive callback
  33. facilities that an XCMD or XFCN can use; it can create its own windows and
  34. menus, intercept keystrokes and mouse clicks, get idle time, and so on.
